Alba Botanica’s Un-petroleum Jelly is a healthy petroleum jelly alternative.
Many use petroleum based products on their lips and skin, but there is a growing movement toward more natural plant based versions.
When looking for an emollient that is not petroleum based, Alba Botanica’s UN-Petroleum Multi-Purpose Jelly from the Hain Celestial Group, Inc. is worth trying.
I keep my personal products as clean and natural as possible. The product ingredients include Castor and Sunflower seed oils, beeswax, and tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E).
These clean and simple emollients soften and sooth the skin. This product is 100% vegetarian with no animal testing, contains plant based oils and waxes, and is paraben and phthalate free with no synthetic fragrance, artificial coloring, or harsh sulfates.
Where to purchase this product and cost.
This product can be purchased on-line, at select local chain pharmacies as well as retail/natural food/and grocery stores. Non-petroleum moisturizers and emollient products are generally a bit pricier than the petroleum based products ($2-$4.00).
This jelly’s price ranges from $5-$8 up to $12 (pricey) so it’s best to shop around.
A little goes a long way, so a 3.5 ounce (100 gram) tube lasts a long time. I believe it’s money well spent.

Alba Botanica un-petroleum Jelly Review
Here’s my review.
Alba Botanica un-petroleum Multi-Purpose Jelly goes on smoothly and is easily absorbed with an aromatic hint (barely detectable) of natural castor/sunflower oil.
It has the petroleum based feel but is less greasy, thinner and appears to be absorbed more easily. It only takes a few minutes to completely absorb.
If applied too liberally, it may leave a slightly oily residue. It softens and moisturizes leaving a protective layer that can be washed off with soap and water if desired.
I found it effective for dry, itchy, chapped, and mildly irritated skin.
Just a quick reminder to consult a qualified health care provider for any concerning skin conditions such as but not limited to swelling, drainage, change in appearance, pain, rash, or other concerning symptoms to rule out an underlying condition or infection.
I hope this information was helpful. Please share and pass the word to others. If you have natural favorites, I would love to hear your recommendations. Thank you for visiting.
