Why Sunny Fruit products are a good choice.
Choosing a healthy organic dried fruit snack that is clean, satisfying, and affordable can be a bit frustrating. So many snacks promoted as “healthy and natural” contain residual pesticides, added sugars, preservatives, and fillers.
Consumers are often mislead by product mis-labeling and mass marketing.
Here are some healthy dried fruit snacks that please the palette and wallet, are soft in texture as well as organic, gluten, nut, and Sulfite free.
Sunny Fruit is distributed by the Safe Food Corporation based in Edgewater, New Jersey. For additional company and product information, click here.
This company offers a wide range of organic dried fruit (apricots/dates/tart cherries/figs/etc.) that are certified vegan, kosher, and non-GMO.
This review will cover only 2 of their many products, Sunny Fruit’s Organic Apricots and Organic Dried Tart Cherries. Both products are housed in bags each containing 5 individually sealed snack sized packets. Each individual bag counts as 1 serving based on the 2000 calorie ADA recommendation.
Sunny Fruit Organic Turkish Apricots Review

The Turkish apricots are moist. They have a dark rich color because no sulfites have been added. The texture is smooth; the taste is sweet and definitely apricot in a pure form with just the right amount of “chew”.
The sugar content is on the higher side being 26 grams (total carbohydrate 31 grams or 11%) with 120 calories per serving. A single packet supplies 2 grams of protein, 4 grams of dietary fiber (13%)., 30 milligrams of Calcium (2%), 1.3 milligrams of Iron (8%) and 570 milligrams of Potassium (10%).
The listed ingredients are organic dried apricots and water providing a healthy alternative for satisfying that sweet craving. I experienced no odd or lingering aftertaste. The apricot pieces are good sized and range from 5-6 per serving.
Sunny Fruit Organic Tart Cherries Review

The organic dried tart cherries are another fantastic product. They are softly chewy with a deep rich color and sweet with just the right amount of “tang”. The cherry flavor and tartness lingers gently on the tongue and is very pleasant. Your senses will thank you.
The sugar content is lower than the dried apricot, 8 grams (total carbohydrate 18 grams or 6%) with 70 calories per serving. A single packet supplies no protein, 2 grams of dietary fiber (6%), 10 milligrams of Calcium (0%), 0.2 milligrams of Iron (0%) and 150 milligrams of Potassium (4%) based on the 2000 calorie ADA.
Ingredients include organic dried sour cherries infused with the organic juice concentrates of sour cherry and apple with organic sunflower oil. There are between 8-10 pieces per serving.
Where to purchase and cost.
I have purchased the apricots and tart cherries for the lowest prices ($3.99 -$4.99 per 5 count package) at Home Goods (stock varies) and Big Lots (varies).
They can also be purchased on Amazon and other websites but might be a bit pricier ($6.99 and above per 5 count bag). They are a great size for a quick on the road snack while doing errands to avoid that impulsive candy bar purchase when the stomach is rumbling.
Just a quick reminder, for many, dried fruit in moderation is a healthy snack alternative. If you have a condition requiring you to limit or monitor your sugar intake, please pay attention to the sugar content of these products.
FYI. I’ve never found a pit in any Sunny Fruit product but it’s good to be aware of that possibility. It can happen with any pitted product.
