Sharing my favorite organic lip balm that always delivers.
We all know from experience that despite our best efforts lips become dry and chapped especially when the cold weather sets in.
Balms, salves, lipsticks, and butters are the mass marketed protectors that keep lips moist, supple, and attractive.
Unfortunately, many of these products contain artificial colors, fragrances, and flavors. Companies often promote the “paraben-free” status of their product but will still include petroleum, synthetic waxes, and artificial sweeteners in their recipes.
Since lips absorb whatever is placed upon them, those with special considerations, allergies, and sensitivities need to be especially aware of product ingredients.
Evolution of smooth’s (eos) Organic Natural Shea Butter Lip Balm satisfies the need for an organic, hypoallergenic, paraben/phthalate/cruelty and gluten-free (GF) lip balm.
Eos organic lip balm product ingredients.
Eos’s Vanilla Bean and Sweet Mint 100% Organic Lip Balms contain organic, sustainable wild grown natural shea.
The vanilla version contains shea and the following organic ingredients: sunflower seed oil, beeswax, coconut oil, jojoba seed oil, canauba wax, olive fruit oil, vanilla fruit extract, tocopherol (vitamin E), stevia leaf/extract, and anisyl alcohol.
In addition to the ingredients listed above, the mint version contains peppermint, fennel, rosemary, and organic flavors.
Just a quick mention for those with coconut allergies or concerns about stevia, these products may not be a good match for you.
Where to purchase eos organic lip balms and cost.
Both the vanilla and mint varieties can be found in most grocery, big box, and retail pharmacies as well as on-line retailers.
Some stores will price hike the “natural and organic” items so it’s best to shop around. Average prices for this product range from $3.75 (each) or $4.99 to $5.99 for a double pack.

This company offers a wide range of flavors. Some are carried in stores while others are more easily purchased on-line.
I’ll be reviewing the vanilla and mint versions.

Review
Both the vanilla bean and sweet mint have a subtle fragrance. The aroma is mild and pleasant. Once applied there is no oily residue making them a perfect moisturizing base for lip colors.
The taste is pleasant and mild with no odd or lingering aftertaste. The sweet mint adds a noticeable cooling effect on hot summer days, but it’s important to note that neither product reviewed contains a SPF (sun protective factor).
They are wonderful as preventatives and for healing dry or chapped lips.
I found the vanilla to be more soothing on actively chapped lips as the mint often left a burning sensation. Both are great products to carry in purse or pocket any time of year.
