An Organic Canned Chicken Soup That Tastes Homemade
For many of us a good chicken soup is worth its weight in gold. It can comfort, sooth, balance, calm digestion, and evoke pleasant memories.
Not everyone has the time to make it from scratch and I’m one of them.
I’ve used the Pacific Foods low sodium chicken stock for years. It doesn’t have the odd aftertaste I noticed with other brands. The gluten-free chicken soup seemed worth a try and I’m glad I did. It became another one of my favorite finds.
Pacific Foods chicken soup with wild rice is just what the doctor ordered.
Pacific Foods Organic Chicken & Wild Rice Soup is certified organic and gluten-free. It tastes and looks homemade, is filling, satisfying, and easily digested.
It’s a wonderful soup for any occasion but especially if you’re feeling a bit “under the weather”. Even the non-gluten-free find this soup tasty and satisfying.
Product Ingredients
This soup contains organic ingredients (celery, carrots, onion, wild rice, chicken, and chicken stock) and is seasoned with sea salt, organic garlic, and organic spices.
Each full can has a good amount of fiber (5 grams per container or 18% DV) and contains 11 grams of protein (15% DV).
The only con is the sodium content. Unfortunately, it is high in sodium with 1200 milligrams (53% DV) per can. That’s a lot.
This may be a deal breaker if you are sodium restricted so please keep this high percentage in mind. Hopefully someday, a low sodium version will be available. If I have a can, I consider that my main sodium for the day.
Please also be cautious and aware that not all Pacific Foods organic soups are gluten-free. So read those labels carefully if you have a sensitivity or medical necessity for avoiding gluten.
Where to purchase and cost.
Pacific Foods Chicken and Wild Rice Soup can be found in many big box and chain grocers as well as health food stores.
It can also be purchased on-line but beware of dented cans. It often happens in transit. Cans can be returned but it’s a bother. I stick with in store purchases for the cans.
The price fluctuates between $3.50-$5.00 or more per can. I find it best to stock up when it’s on sale.
The best price I found recently was at Walmart ($2.98) and Target ($3.50). It can be quite pricey in some natural and health food stores.
The soup may also be found packaged in cartons. The cartons can damage easily spoiling the contents. I know because it happened to me and wasn’t pleasant. I prefer the cans.
